Thailand’s Ministry of Finance Urges Welfare Card Holders to Complete e-KYC
The Thai Ministry of Finance is calling on 2026 State Welfare Card applicants to complete their electronic identity verification (e-KYC) before the September 30 deadline to ensure timely access to benefits.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on August 18, 2026, the Ministry of Finance has issued an urgent reminder to individuals who have qualified for the 2026 State Welfare Card program. Authorities are advising successful applicants not to delay their electronic identity verification (e-KYC) process until the last minute.
To begin utilizing benefits starting October 1, 2026, applicants must complete their e-KYC by September 30, 2026. The Ministry emphasizes that this verification can only be performed via the 'Pao Tang' mobile application or at designated branches of five specific government-affiliated banks. Notably, verification cannot be processed through ATM machines.
For residents and long-term visitors managing local financial affairs, it is important to note that after completing the verification, individuals should check their status the following day via the official project websites (welfare.mof.go.th or บัตรสวัสดิการแห่งรัฐ.mof.go.th) to confirm the process was successful. While the absolute final deadline for e-KYC is January 12, 2027, failing to meet the September 30 cutoff will result in a delay in accessing benefits when the program launches in October. Residents should ensure their documentation is prepared and verify their status online to avoid potential service interruptions.
