Thailand’s Department of Land Transport Opens Applications for Disability Support Equipment

According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the Department of Land Transport (DLT) has announced that it is accepting applications for financial support to provide equipment for individuals with disabilities resulting from road traffic accidents. This initiative is funded by the Road Safety Fund, which utilizes revenue generated from the auction of 'lucky' or vanity license plates.

Director-General Sorapong Paitoonphong stated that the DLT has been providing this assistance for 16 years, since 2009. To date, the program has supported 21,800 individuals with items such as prosthetic limbs, manual and electric wheelchairs, hospital beds, and oxygen concentrators. For the 2027 fiscal year, the DLT continues this effort to improve the quality of life for those affected by road accidents.

Eligible applicants must be Thai nationals. Interested individuals are required to submit their applications and supporting documentation by September 30, 2026.
