Marine Police Apprehend Fugitive Linked to Illegal Oil Trade

On August 17, 2026, Thai Marine Police apprehended a 64-year-old man, identified as Mr. Umad, at a pier in Krabi province. He was wanted under a Samut Prakan Provincial Court warrant issued on May 3, 2022, related to charges of concealing, distributing, or transporting goods known to be imported or exported in violation of the law.

Authorities reported that after securing bail in 2022, the suspect fled and had been working as a crew member on a vessel. The arrest was executed by officers from the Marine Police Division 9, who located him at the Krabi Fisheries Prevention and Suppression Center pier. The suspect is allegedly linked to the network of a prominent illegal oil trader known as 'Sia Jo.'
