On August 13, 2026, 34-year-old Kittiphop Sodthaisong died in a motorcycle accident in Buriram province. According to Khaosod Online, the incident occurred while the deceased was fleeing from investigators from the Phutthaisong Police Station. His mother, 53-year-old Thanyarat Sodthaisong, has publicly requested an investigation, expressing concerns that the police may have used excessive force during the pursuit.
In response to the allegations, the Superintendent of Phutthaisong Police stated that officers were performing their official duties and denied that the police vehicle collided with the motorcycle. Forensic evidence reportedly indicated that the motorcycle lacked a rear brake, which may have contributed to the driver losing control and crashing into the roadside. The mother noted that her son fled because he feared having a criminal record, which would have prevented him from working abroad.
