According to a report by Matichon Online on August 17, 2026, Chonburi Highway Police successfully intercepted a BMW vehicle displaying license plates that were officially registered to a pickup truck. The investigation was initiated after the legitimate owner of the pickup truck began receiving traffic violation tickets for offenses they did not commit.
Upon questioning, the driver of the BMW claimed to have purchased the vehicle for 300,000 THB, identifying it as a 'pledged' or 'forfeited' vehicle (rot lud jam nam). These types of vehicles are often sold in informal markets without proper legal documentation or title transfers, frequently leading to issues involving cloned plates or illegal registration.
