Café Amazon Expands into Bangladesh with Bashundhara Group

Thai coffee chain Café Amazon has officially launched its first branch in Dhaka, Bangladesh, marking a strategic expansion into the South Asian market.

According to Khaosod Online Thailand, PTT Oil and Retail Business (OR) has officially entered the Bangladeshi market through a partnership with the Bashundhara Group. The inaugural Café Amazon branch in Dhaka was opened in the presence of Thitiporn Chirasawadi, the Thai Ambassador to Dhaka, and executives from both companies. This launch represents a significant step in OR’s international growth strategy, targeting the large consumer base in South Asia.

The new location features a 'Lifestyle Oasis' design concept, utilizing natural materials like wood and brick alongside a neutral color palette to create a relaxing environment. To cater to local preferences while maintaining its Thai identity, the café has introduced specialized menu items, including the Brown Sugar Peanut Frappe and the Mango Sticky Rice Frappe, the latter inspired by the iconic Thai dessert.

For residents and travelers in Dhaka, this expansion provides a new venue to experience Thai-style coffee culture. While the company has announced an initial target of opening eight branches across the country, the specific locations and timelines for these subsequent openings remain to be confirmed. This development highlights the growing presence of Thai lifestyle brands in the region, though further details regarding the full rollout schedule are yet to be disclosed.
