Police Seize BMW with Fake License Plates Following Traffic Fine Complaint
Authorities in Chonburi arrested a driver operating a BMW X1 with counterfeit plates after a pickup truck owner reported receiving unexplained traffic tickets.
On August 17, 2026, highway police in Chonburi province apprehended a 51-year-old man, identified as Mr. Suphakorn, while he was driving a white BMW X1 on Highway 344 in Ban Bueng district. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the arrest followed a complaint from a pickup truck owner who had been receiving traffic violation notices for a vehicle they did not own.
Upon inspection, officers discovered that the BMW was fitted with a counterfeit license plate matching the pickup truck's registration, alongside a fake tax sticker. The suspect claimed he purchased the vehicle for 300,000 baht via Facebook, describing it as a 'forfeited collateral' car. Police seized both the fake plate and the vehicle's actual registration plate during the operation.
