Budget Committee Questions Judiciary’s 36 Billion Baht Cash Reserves

During a recent meeting of the House of Representatives' Extraordinary Committee on the 2027 Fiscal Year Budget Bill, officials scrutinized the budget request submitted by the Court of Justice. Chaired by Paradorn Prissanananthakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office and first vice-chair of the committee, the session revealed that the judiciary currently holds a total of 36 billion baht in cash and bank deposits.
Committee members expressed surprise at the scale of these liquid assets. Consequently, the committee has recommended that the Court of Justice explore ways to utilize these substantial reserves more effectively to benefit the public or state interests, rather than keeping them idle.
