Thai Delegation Visits Russia to Boost Trade and FTA Negotiations
Thai business leaders and government officials have visited Russia to advance a Free Trade Agreement with the EAEU, aiming for a $5 billion trade increase over five years.
According to Khaosod Online Thailand, a delegation of Thai private sector leaders, led by the Thai Chamber of Commerce, recently traveled to the Russian Federation. The mission accompanied Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, to strengthen bilateral trade and investment ties.
During the visit, the Thai delegation engaged with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and the Russia-Thai Business Council. A primary objective of these discussions was to push for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Thailand and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), with a stated goal of expanding trade volume by $5 billion within the next five years. The parties also discussed preparations for the upcoming Russian-Thai Investment Forum 2026, scheduled for October 29–31 in Bangkok.
For residents and travelers, this diplomatic and economic push suggests a potential increase in bilateral business activity and future trade opportunities.
