Rodtang Jitmuangnon Proposes Brother-in-Law for National Boxing Team

Muay Thai icon Rodtang Jitmuangnon has publicly showcased his brother-in-law, former WBA Asia champion Saengarthit Looksaikongdin, as a potential candidate for Thailand’s national amateur boxing team. According to a report by Khaosod Online, Rodtang posted a video of the two sparring together and reached out to 1996 Olympic gold medalist Somluck Kamsing to evaluate whether Saengarthit has the aptitude to compete in the 65kg amateur boxing division.

This initiative follows a recent collaboration between ONE Championship, the Thailand Boxing Association, and the National Olympic Committee of Thailand. That partnership was established to support former ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nabil Anane in his pursuit of qualifying for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. By sharing the sparring footage, Rodtang is signaling an interest in seeing more Muay Thai athletes transition to amateur boxing to represent the nation on the global stage.

For residents and sports enthusiasts in Thailand, this development highlights the growing intersection between professional Muay Thai and Olympic-style amateur boxing.
