Chinese Tourist Dies Following Swimming Pool Incident in Phuket
A 44-year-old Chinese national has passed away after being found unresponsive in a hotel swimming pool in Patong, Phuket.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, a 44-year-old Chinese tourist identified as Mr. Ye died following a drowning incident at a hotel in Phuket. The incident occurred on August 17, 2026, while the man was vacationing with his family.
Reports indicate that Mr. Ye entered the hotel’s swimming pool, which is approximately two meters deep. His daughter later discovered him motionless in the water and called for help. Other guests nearby assisted in pulling him from the pool and performed CPR before emergency services arrived. Despite being transported to Patong Hospital and receiving medical intervention, he could not be resuscitated.
Police from the Patong Station were notified by hospital staff and have initiated an investigation into the circumstances of the death. For travelers and residents, this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of water safety, particularly in deep-water pools where visibility or physical distress may not be immediately apparent to others.
