Noodle Shop Owner Scammed by Imposter Fortune Teller in Nonthaburi

On August 17, 2026, Khaosod Online reported that a 30-year-old noodle shop owner, identified as Ms. Woraya, filed a complaint at the Bang Bua Thong Police Station in Nonthaburi. She alleges that she was defrauded by a foreign man who claimed to be a Brahmin priest from a well-known temple in the Silom area.

According to the report, the incident occurred on August 15 at the victim's shop in Tambon Phimon Rat. The man, described as a tall, turban-wearing foreigner in his 50s, approached the shop owner and claimed he could see spirits following her. He initially gained her trust by providing accurate details about her family. After paying a 300-baht fee for the reading, the victim was instructed to hold out her hands, where the man allegedly performed a trick that revealed the number '531' on her palms. He then pressured her to pay for future lottery numbers and additional ritual fees, resulting in a loss of several thousand baht.

When the victim later attempted to reclaim her money, the man reportedly threatened her, warning that she should be careful of 'black magic' affecting her. This incident serves as a reminder for residents and travelers to remain cautious of unsolicited fortune-telling services that demand payment for rituals or future predictions. Police are currently investigating the matter to locate the suspect.
