It was later discovered that the woman was still legally married to a naval officer at the time. The naval officer claimed he had been subjected to similar behavior, eventually paying 100,000 THB to secure a divorce. The victim’s family argues that the financial transfers were not voluntary gifts but the result of deliberate deception regarding the woman's marital status.
