Foreign Investment in Thailand Surges by 37% in First Seven Months of 2026

Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce reports a significant rise in foreign business investment, reaching 219.2 billion baht between January and July 2026.

According to data released by Khaosod Online Thailand, the Ministry of Commerce has granted permits to 736 foreign entities to operate businesses in Thailand during the first seven months of 2026. This represents a 26% increase in the number of businesses compared to the same period in 2025. The total capital investment associated with these permits reached 219.2 billion baht, marking a 37% increase year-on-year.

In July 2026 alone, 96 foreign businesses were authorized to operate, bringing in 31.59 billion baht in investment. The primary sources of this foreign capital are investors from China, Singapore, and the United States. Poonpong Naiyanapakorn, Director-General of the Department of Business Development, noted that these approvals are conducted under the Foreign Business Act B.E. 2542.

For residents and travelers, this influx of capital often signals continued economic activity and potential infrastructure or service development in major business hubs. While the data confirms a robust trend in foreign corporate interest, it remains to be seen how this investment will translate into long-term employment opportunities or specific sector growth across the country. The Ministry continues to monitor these trends as part of its oversight of foreign business operations within the Thai market.
