The Office of the Education Council (OEC) has launched a project to create a 'Thailand National Education Index' to align the country's educational standards with international benchmarks.
On August 17, 2026, the Office of the Education Council (OEC) held an academic conference at the Mandarin Hotel in Bangkok to discuss the development of a 'Thailand National Education Index.' Presided over by OEC Secretary-General Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prawit Erawan, the meeting focused on establishing a systematic framework to serve as a database for international comparison.
According to Khaosod Online, the initiative aims to provide a comprehensive tool for policymakers to plan, monitor, and evaluate the national education system. The index is designed to incorporate both hard statistical data and survey-based feedback to assess the quality of Thai education across five key dimensions, including accessibility. By integrating these metrics, the OEC intends to ensure that Thailand’s educational framework remains responsive to global changes.
