Thailand’s Annual Military Reshuffle Process Underway
The Ministry of Defence is finalizing its annual general officer reshuffle, with key appointments expected to be submitted to the Prime Minister by late August.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, the Thai Ministry of Defence is currently in the final stages of preparing its annual military reshuffle list. A meeting of the Defence Council is scheduled for August 20, 2026, chaired by Minister of Defence Lt. Gen. Adul Boonthamcharoen, to finalize the appointments of general-grade officers.
Following this internal review, the list will be verified by the Office of the Judge Advocate General before being submitted to the Prime Minister on August 28, 2026, for the subsequent royal endorsement process. Notable expected appointments include Gen. Saran Phetcharanon as the new Permanent Secretary for Defence. The reshuffle also includes considerations for key regional commands, such as the Fourth Army Area.
