Police Officer Remains Missing After Alleged Drug Use During Online Training

According to a report by Khaosod Online, a police officer identified as Police Senior Sergeant Major Weerasak, known as 'Dab A,' has been missing for six days following a viral incident. During a mandatory online training session for Provincial Police Region 9 on August 10, 2026, the officer was allegedly filmed consuming methamphetamine while participating via Zoom. The session, which included 259 officers, was intended to improve police efficiency for the 2026 fiscal year.

Other officers participating in the virtual training reportedly captured images of the incident and reported the behavior to their superiors. The officer, who serves as a radio operator at the Thale Noi Police Station in Phatthalung, has not been reachable since the incident came to light. The Phatthalung Provincial Police Commander has publicly addressed the situation, stating that there are established procedures for handling such misconduct and urging the public to maintain confidence that the matter will be addressed according to the law.

For residents and travelers, this incident highlights ongoing internal disciplinary oversight within the Thai police force.
