Thailand’s Energy Conservation Fund Allocates 7.5 Billion Baht for 2026
The Energy Conservation Promotion Fund has announced a 7.5 billion baht budget for 2026, focusing on expanding clean energy access and reducing living costs through solar technology.
According to Khaosod Online, the Energy Conservation Promotion Fund (ENCON Fund) has unveiled its 2026 fiscal year budget, totaling 7.5 billion baht. Rattachat Siripanich, manager of the fund, stated that the initiative aims to improve energy accessibility and lower living expenses for the public by integrating clean energy and efficiency technologies.
Initial plans include supporting over 55,000 systems with a combined capacity of nearly 34,000 kilowatts. A significant portion of this funding—approximately 628 million baht—is earmarked for solar power installations in remote communities and households currently lacking grid access. This specific project covers 47 areas and involves over 8,900 systems. Additionally, the fund is collaborating on 12 agricultural projects focused on solar-powered water pumping systems for both surface and groundwater, intended to assist areas prone to drought.
For residents and travelers, this initiative signals a broader push toward decentralized energy in rural Thailand, potentially improving infrastructure in remote regions. While the fund has outlined its primary objectives and initial project allocations, the full implementation timeline and the specific locations for all 55,058 approved systems remain to be confirmed as the fiscal year progresses.
