Hospital Investigates Nurse’s Social Media Post Following Patient Death
A hospital in Khon Kaen is investigating allegations of professional misconduct after a patient died following social media posts made during her treatment.
A hospital in Khon Kaen, Thailand, has launched an investigation into allegations of unprofessional conduct by a nurse following the death of a female patient. The incident gained significant attention on social media after screenshots surfaced showing posts allegedly made by a nurse while the patient was receiving care.
According to Khaosod Online, the patient had been waiting for medical attention since 12:00 PM, with one post attributed to the patient expressing frustration over the delay. Subsequently, images circulated online showing the patient in a weakened state, accompanied by text allegedly posted by a nurse that included insensitive remarks about the patient’s condition. The patient’s son has publicly raised concerns regarding the circumstances of his mother’s death, specifically questioning why she lost consciousness in a hospital restroom shortly before passing away, despite expectations that she would be discharged.
For residents and travelers, this case highlights ongoing public discourse regarding the quality of care and professional ethics within local healthcare facilities. While the hospital has initiated an inquiry, several details remain unconfirmed, including the official cause of death and the identity of the individual behind the social media posts. Authorities have yet to release a formal conclusion regarding whether the nurse’s actions directly impacted the patient's outcome or violated hospital policy.
