Dispute Over Wat Pa Adulyaram Land Ownership in Khon Kaen
Professor Thongthong Chandrangsu has requested provincial authorities to ensure the safety of monks and expedite land title transfers at Wat Pa Adulyaram following a ownership dispute.
On August 17, 2026, Professor Thongthong Chandrangsu, President of the Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University Council and Chairman of the National Buddhism Protection Committee, met with Khon Kaen Governor Khajornkiat Rakpanitmanee. The meeting addressed an ongoing land ownership dispute at Wat Pa Adulyaram in Khon Kaen’s city district.
The conflict involves heirs of the late Mr. Hiang Phimsri, who originally donated the land to the temple, now seeking to reclaim ownership. Professor Thongthong requested that the provincial government provide security for the temple’s clergy and accelerate the process of updating the land title deed to reflect the temple's rights.
Governor Khajornkiat stated that the provincial authorities are actively investigating the matter and have urged the public to refrain from excessive speculation. The temple has submitted evidence to the Khon Kaen Provincial Land Office, which is currently reviewing the documentation according to legal procedures. The Governor noted that while opposing parties have the right to file formal objections, the final decision will be determined strictly within the legal framework.
