French Tourist Dies Following Drowning Incident at Bang Tao Beach, Phuket
A 55-year-old French national has passed away after being pulled from the water at Bang Tao Beach in Phuket on August 16, 2026.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, a 55-year-old French tourist died following a drowning incident at Bang Tao Beach in the Choeng Thale sub-district of Phuket. The incident occurred on the afternoon of August 16, 2026.
Local authorities, including officers from the Choeng Thale Police Station, were notified of the emergency and arrived at the scene behind the local cemetery. Rescuers successfully retrieved the man from the water and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before transporting him to Thalang Hospital. Despite these urgent medical efforts, the tourist was later pronounced dead.
Preliminary examinations by medical personnel and investigators found no external injuries on the victim's body, suggesting drowning as the primary cause. The body has been transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a formal autopsy to confirm the exact cause of death.
