Thailand Issues Severe Weather Warning for 39 Provinces
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has issued a warning for heavy rain, flash floods, and landslides across 39 provinces from August 18–21, 2026.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has issued a nationwide alert regarding severe weather conditions. Director-General Theerapat Kachamat stated that the Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command is monitoring meteorological data following an announcement from the Thai Meteorological Department regarding heavy to very heavy rainfall expected across the upper regions of Thailand.
From August 18 to August 21, 2026, 39 provinces across the Northern, Northeastern, and Central regions are at risk of flash floods, forest runoff, and landslides. Additionally, three southern provinces have been warned of strong winds and high waves, with a strict prohibition on boat travel during this period.
For residents and travelers, this weather pattern poses significant risks to road travel and outdoor activities in affected areas. It is essential to monitor local news and follow instructions from provincial authorities.
