The abbot of Wat Pa Adulyaram in Khon Kaen has issued a public warning regarding scammers soliciting millions of baht under the false pretense of land transfer fees.
On August 16, 2026, the abbot of Wat Pa Adulyaram, located in the Khon Kaen municipality, issued a formal warning to the public regarding fraudulent activities involving the temple's land. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, scammers have been soliciting millions of baht from individuals, falsely claiming the funds are required to cover transfer fees for a 21-rai land plot being donated to the temple.
Phra Khru Adulsarnnithet, the abbot, clarified that these claims are entirely false and that he has never authorized anyone to collect money on behalf of the temple. He emphasized that the temple does not utilize donation boxes and that all legitimate contributions must be made exclusively through the temple’s official bank QR code. The abbot urged the public to report any individuals soliciting money for these alleged land transfer fees to the police immediately.
This incident follows a private meeting between the temple leadership and officials from the National Office of Buddhism and the Khon Kaen Provincial Office of Buddhism. While the specific details of that meeting remain undisclosed, the abbot’s primary concern is preventing the public from falling victim to these financial scams.
