Border Patrol Police Face Allowance Delays Amid Budget Standoff
Democrat Party spokesperson Pongsakorn Kwanmuang reports that Border Patrol Police (BPP) Region 2 officers are experiencing unpaid allowances, mirroring issues previously identified in Region 1.
On August 16, 2026, Pongsakorn Kwanmuang, spokesperson for the Democrat Party, highlighted a growing financial crisis affecting the Border Patrol Police (BPP). Following earlier reports regarding unpaid allowances for BPP Region 1, new complaints have emerged from officers in BPP Region 2, who are stationed along the Thai-Cambodian border. These officers reportedly have not received their entitled allowances, mirroring the situation faced by their counterparts in the first region.
According to Khaosod Online, Pongsakorn engaged with senior officials at the Royal Thai Police (RTP) to investigate the cause of these delays. The RTP confirmed that the issue does not stem from internal administrative failures. Instead, the police force has attempted to mitigate the situation by reallocating internal funds, but these resources have proven insufficient to cover the outstanding payments. The RTP stated that the primary obstacle is the government’s failure to approve the necessary central budget allocations.
For residents and travelers, this situation highlights potential administrative strain within the security sector.
