Fatal Motorcycle Accident Leads to Drug Seizure in Buriram
A 28-year-old man died after crashing his motorcycle near a police checkpoint in Buriram, where authorities subsequently discovered 6,000 methamphetamine pills in his possession.
On August 16, 2026, a 28-year-old man identified as Khematat died following a motorcycle accident in Buriram province. According to Khaosod Online, the incident occurred on the Buriram-Satuek road, approximately 300 meters before a police checkpoint established by the Ban Dan Police Station.
Authorities had set up the checkpoint to conduct inspections for weapons and narcotics in line with government policy. Shortly after the checkpoint was established, police were alerted to a motorcycle crash near a local tire shop. Upon arrival, officers found a damaged Honda Wave motorcycle and the victim, who was unconscious. During the subsequent search of the victim’s belongings, police discovered 6,000 methamphetamine pills.
For residents and travelers in the area, this incident highlights the ongoing strict enforcement of security and anti-narcotics measures on major provincial roads. While the police suspect the individual was acting as a drug courier, the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are currently working to expand the case to identify potential accomplices or further connections.
