Thai-Developed 'CE-7 MATCH' Instrument Joins Lunar Mission
Thailand is set to contribute a domestically developed scientific instrument to the Chang'e 7 lunar exploration mission, scheduled for launch on August 24, 2026.
According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) has announced that the 'CE-7 MATCH' scientific instrument, designed and developed by Thai experts, has been selected for the Chang'e 7 lunar mission. This marks the first time a Thai-developed device will participate in a moon exploration project. The mission is scheduled to launch from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in Hainan, China, on August 24, 2026, at approximately 7:00 AM Thailand time.
For residents and visitors in Thailand, this event highlights the nation's growing role in international space technology and advanced engineering research. To mark the occasion, NARIT, in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, the Ministry of Education, Thai PBS, and Sea (Thailand), plans to broadcast the launch of the Long March-5 Y14 rocket live. Educational activities related to space science are also being organized to coincide with the event.
While the launch date is set, officials noted that the exact timing remains subject to change based on weather conditions and engineering requirements. This mission represents a significant milestone for Thailand's scientific community, showcasing its potential on the global stage.
