Thailand Sets Ambitious Goals for 20th Asian Games in Nagoya

With one month remaining before the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) has outlined its strategic objectives for the national delegation. According to Khaosod Online, SAT Governor Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee confirmed that the organization, in collaboration with the National Sports Development Fund and the Olympic Committee of Thailand, has finalized budget allocations to ensure uninterrupted training for athletes.

Thailand is targeting a total of 15 gold medals, aiming to rank within the top six nations overall and maintain its position as the leading country in the ASEAN region. Dr. Kongsak noted that this confidence stems from the continuous preparation efforts maintained by various sports associations since the 33rd SEA Games held late last year. The Asian Games are scheduled to take place from September 19 to October 4, 2026.

For residents and travelers, this event highlights a period of heightened national focus on sports performance. While the SAT has expressed optimism regarding these targets, the actual medal count remains to be determined once the competition concludes in October. The focus now shifts to the final phase of athlete preparation as the delegation readies for the trip to Aichi Prefecture.
