Rama 2 Construction Concludes; New Elevated Expressway Projects Announced
The Department of Highways is set to complete the Rama 2 road project, with the M82 motorway opening on August 28, while new elevated expressway expansions are planned for the Borommaratchachonani route.
According to Prachachat Business, the Department of Highways has announced the conclusion of construction on the Rama 2 road. The M82 motorway, connecting Bang Khun Thian to Ban Phaeo, is scheduled to open to the public on August 28, 2026.
Following this completion, the department is shifting focus to the Borommaratchachonani road. Starting in October, construction will begin on the first phase of an elevated parallel expressway connecting Phutthamonthon Sai 3 to Sai 4. This project, valued at 4.3 billion baht, is expected to be completed by 2032. The initiative aims to link two new motorways and alleviate traffic congestion in the area. Furthermore, an additional 12 billion baht has been earmarked for a subsequent extension reaching Phet Kasem Road.
