Village Headman Killed in Sai Buri Mosque Shooting
A village headman in Pattani province has died following a shooting incident at a local mosque, with authorities currently investigating the motive and searching for the perpetrators.
On the evening of August 14, 2026, a village headman, identified as Mr. Hamdi Kueji, was fatally shot while inside the Ba Ngo Yu Ring Mosque in the Sai Buri district of Pattani province. According to reports from Khaosod Online Thailand, the incident occurred at approximately 9:30 PM. Mr. Kueji sustained gunshot wounds during the attack and was transported to Somdej Phra Yuparat Sai Buri Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities report that the assailants, whose numbers remain unknown, stole the victim's handgun before fleeing the scene.
