Thai esports athletes have secured their spots to represent the nation at the upcoming ESPORTS CHAMPIONSHIP 2026 in Ayutthaya.
On August 14, 2026, the Thailand Esports Federation and the Sports Authority of Thailand hosted a qualifying event at The Hall Convention Center in Ayutthaya City Park. The competition aimed to select the national representatives for the Street Fighter 6 and eFootball Mobile categories.
According to Khaosod Online Thailand, prominent fighting game athletes Noprut 'Book' Hemphamon and Tham 'Mindrpg' Homchuen successfully secured their places in the national squad. In total, six players were selected for each of the two featured games. These athletes will now advance to compete against invited international players during the main event, scheduled for August 15–16, 2026.
For residents and visitors, this event highlights Ayutthaya’s growing role as a hub for international sporting events beyond its historical tourism appeal. The tournament brings a global spotlight to the local gaming community and showcases the professionalization of esports within the country. While the national representatives have been confirmed, the final outcomes of the international matches against the invited foreign competitors remain to be seen over the coming days. Those interested in the local gaming scene may find this a significant milestone for Thai digital sports development.
