New M82 Elevated Motorway to Open for Trial on August 28

According to Prachachat Business, the Thai Department of Highways has announced the commencement of a trial service for the M82 elevated motorway, connecting Bang Khun Thian to Ban Phaeo. The route is scheduled to open to the public at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 28.

This infrastructure project is designed to alleviate traffic congestion on Rama II Road, a primary artery for travelers heading toward southern Thailand. By improving connectivity, the motorway is expected to support regional economic growth and facilitate easier access to popular tourist destinations such as Amphawa and Hua Hin.

For those planning to use the new route, the Department of Highways has established specific safety regulations for the trial period. Motorists are required to adhere to a speed limit of no more than 80 km/h, while trucks are restricted to a maximum speed of 65 km/h. The trial period will last for two years, during which the motorway will be toll-free.
