Man Arrested at Bangkok Checkpoint with Narcotics
A 35-year-old man was apprehended at a traffic checkpoint in the Chok Chai area after police discovered 201 methamphetamine pills and a quantity of crystal methamphetamine in his possession.
On August 14, 2026, officers from the Traffic Police Division 5 conducted a routine sobriety checkpoint in the Chok Chai area of Bangkok. During the operation, police stopped a 35-year-old man, identified as Mr. Wichai, who was operating a blue Yamaha R15 motorcycle registered in Rayong. According to Khaosod Online, the suspect exhibited suspicious behavior, which prompted officers to conduct a thorough search of his person and vehicle.
Authorities discovered 201 methamphetamine pills (yaba) and one bag of crystal methamphetamine (ice) in the suspect's possession. Following the arrest, the suspect was taken into custody, and his urine was sent to Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital for drug testing. The suspect reportedly claimed that the narcotics were intended for personal consumption.
