Energy Regulatory Commission Continues Operations Despite Staffing Shortages

According to a report by Prachachat Business on August 14, 2026, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) of Thailand has confirmed that its regulatory operations remain unaffected despite a reduction in its board to four members. This staffing shortage is attributed to delays in the recruitment process for new commissioners.

Despite the reduced board size, the ERC maintains that it is continuing its mandate to support the national economy. The commission highlighted that it has issued over 6,000 energy-related licenses over the past two years. Furthermore, the agency emphasized its ongoing commitment to the strict oversight of power plants to ensure operational compliance.
