Thai Interior Ministry Escalates Crackdown on Local Government Exam Fraud
The Department of Local Administration has referred 5,925 individuals suspected of exam score manipulation to five national investigative agencies for criminal prosecution.
On August 14, 2026, the Department of Local Administration (DLA) announced a significant escalation in its efforts to address corruption within local government recruitment examinations. According to Khaosod Online, Deputy Minister of Interior Worasit Leangprasert confirmed that the names and data of 5,925 individuals suspected of having their exam scores artificially inflated have been forwarded to five specialized agencies for further investigation.
The agencies tasked with the probe include the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), the Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO), the Anti-Corruption Division (ACD) of the Royal Thai Police, and the Department of Special Investigation (DSI). These bodies will examine the cases for potential criminal offenses, corruption, and illicit financial trails.
