Selection Process for New SAT Governor Enters Final Stages
The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) has narrowed its search for a new governor to two candidates, with a final decision expected by late August.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, the selection committee for the new Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) has identified two finalists from an initial pool of ten applicants. The committee, chaired by Ministry of Tourism and Sports Permanent Secretary Natthariya Thaweewong, confirmed that Dr. Meechai Inwood, Deputy Governor for Administration, and Mrs. Prodpran Samanmit, Deputy Governor for Professional Sports and Boxing, have met all necessary qualifications.
Following English proficiency testing on August 10 and formal interviews involving vision presentations on August 13, the committee has not yet publicly disclosed which candidate is currently leading. The final decision rests with the SAT board, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Songsak Thongsri, which is scheduled to meet on August 27. Once the board makes its selection, the name will be forwarded to the Cabinet for final consideration.
For residents and visitors, this transition is significant as the SAT plays a central role in managing Thailand’s sports infrastructure, national training facilities, and major sporting events. While the selection process is currently internal, the appointment will determine the future leadership and strategic direction of the country's sports development.
