According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is scheduled to embark on an official diplomatic mission to Australia and New Zealand from August 17 to August 22, 2026. The visit, conducted at the invitation of the respective heads of government, aims to strengthen Thailand's strategic partnerships in the region.
Government spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek stated that the primary objectives of this trip are to expand markets for Thai goods, attract foreign investment and technology, and foster business-to-business connections. The agenda also includes discussions on security cooperation and facilitating travel between citizens. Notably, this marks the first official visit by a Thai Prime Minister to Australia in 14 years, occurring ahead of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations in 2027. In Australia, the Prime Minister is set to meet with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to discuss practical implementations of their strategic partnership, specifically regarding trade, investment, and clean energy.
