Thai Election Commission Dismisses Officials Over Corruption Allegations
The Election Commission of Thailand has terminated officials in Tak and Amnat Charoen provinces following investigations into bribery and misconduct.
On August 14, 2026, Election Commissioner Sitthichote Intrawiset addressed public and political concerns regarding the integrity of election processes in Thailand. Speaking at the Centra by Centara Government Complex Hotel, he confirmed that the Election Commission (EC) has officially dismissed staff members in Tak and Amnat Charoen provinces after internal investigations substantiated allegations of corruption.
In the case of Tak province, the investigation focused on local election misconduct involving the solicitation of bribes. Following a formal inquiry, the EC determined the official involved was guilty and subsequently terminated their employment. A separate investigation is ongoing regarding an official in Amnat Charoen who was previously dispatched to assist with 2023 MP election inquiries.
For residents and expatriates, these developments highlight the ongoing efforts by Thai authorities to address administrative malpractice within the electoral system.
