Veteran politician Chuan Leekpai has commented on the legal proceedings against Democrat Party deputy leader Chaichana Dejdecho, emphasizing the principle of equality before the law.
On August 14, 2026, Chuan Leekpai, a party-list MP for the Democrat Party, addressed media inquiries regarding the criminal complaint filed against Chaichana Dejdecho. Chaichana, who serves as a deputy leader of the Democrat Party and oversees operations in Southern Thailand, is currently facing allegations of assaulting a deputy superintendent of the Thung Yai Police Station in Nakhon Si Thammarat province.
Speaking at the Democrat Party headquarters, Chuan stated that while he is aware of the reports, he has not yet verified the specific facts of the case. He directed further questions regarding the potential impact on the party’s leadership and political standing to former Prime Minister and party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva. Chuan emphasized that all individuals must be held equally accountable under the law.
