National Office of Buddhism Intervenes in Wat Pa Adulyaram Land Dispute
Authorities have confirmed the land ownership of Wat Pa Adulyaram in Khon Kaen, initiating a formal transfer process to resolve a long-standing dispute.
On August 14, 2026, officials from the National Office of Buddhism (ONAB) visited Wat Pa Adulyaram in Khon Kaen to address a protracted land ownership dispute that had threatened the stability of the temple and its clergy. According to Khaosod Online, ONAB Inspector Kritsakorn Sanit-sakdi confirmed that the land title belongs entirely to the temple.
To resolve the issue, officials accompanied the temple’s abbot, Phra Khru Adulsarnnithet, to the local land office to begin the formal transfer of ownership. The process is expected to take approximately one month to complete. This intervention is significant as the ONAB intends to use this case as a model for resolving similar land disputes at temples across Thailand, particularly where rising land values have led to conflicts.
For residents and visitors, this development marks a step toward restoring peace at the temple, which had been experiencing tensions. While the ownership status is now officially recognized by the state, the finalization of the legal transfer remains to be confirmed within the projected one-month timeframe.
