Indonesia Proposes Toyota Relocate Regional Hub from Thailand
Indonesia’s Finance Minister has formally requested that Toyota shift its primary regional manufacturing base from Thailand to Indonesia, offering new incentives to attract the automaker.
According to a report by Khaosod English, Indonesia’s Finance Minister, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, has publicly urged Toyota to relocate its regional automotive manufacturing hub from Thailand to Indonesia. The request was made during the Gaikindo Indonesia International Automotive Conference (GIAC) held in Tangerang, Banten.
Minister Purbaya stated that Jakarta is prepared to provide specific incentives to enhance Indonesia's competitiveness as a production base for the Japanese automaker. This development highlights ongoing regional competition for automotive investment in Southeast Asia, a sector that has historically been a cornerstone of Thailand’s industrial economy.
