Department of Medical Sciences Deploys Health Supplies to Flood-Affected Northern and Northeastern Thailand
The Department of Medical Sciences has dispatched essential health kits and testing supplies to flood-hit provinces in Northern and Northeastern Thailand to mitigate disease risks.
On August 13, 2026, the Department of Medical Sciences (DMSC) announced the deployment of its Laboratory and Radiation Emergency Response Team (LERT) to support flood-affected regions. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the department has distributed essential health products to medical science centers in Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, and Udon Thani for further distribution to local public health offices.
The aid package includes 1,700 units of anti-fungal foot ointment and mosquito repellent spray, 325 leptospirosis test kits, and 300 coliform bacteria test kits. These supplies are intended to help residents manage health risks associated with prolonged exposure to floodwaters, such as skin infections, waterborne diseases, and vector-borne illnesses.
For residents and travelers in these areas, this initiative highlights the ongoing health risks posed by contaminated floodwaters and insect populations.
