Chiang Mai Launches EV Bus Pilot to Ease Traffic Congestion

According to a report by Prachachat Business, Chiang Mai is implementing a new public transport model titled 'Chiang Mai Public Transport Can Be Designed.' This initiative utilizes service design research to analyze traffic patterns in two critical zones that experience a daily influx of approximately 300,000 people.

As part of this project, the Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization is expanding its electric bus (EV Bus) services. A pilot shuttle bus route has been launched connecting San Sai to Kaew Nawarat. Officials estimate that this service could reduce the number of private vehicles entering the city center by 500 cars per day. The project is currently moving into its third phase of development.

For residents and travelers, this initiative represents a potential shift toward more efficient urban mobility in Chiang Mai, which has long struggled with heavy traffic congestion.
