Thailand Reviews Platform Economy Bill to Balance Regulation and Growth

According to a report by Prachachat Business, Thailand’s Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Chaichanok Chidchob, has requested revisions to the draft Platform Economy Act. The Minister expressed concerns that the current draft, which draws inspiration from European Union regulations, may be too restrictive for the local market.

As a result, the legislative process is being adjusted to ensure a better balance between oversight and the promotion of e-commerce growth. The government aims to introduce the revised bill to Parliament during the upcoming session, scheduled for September 2026.

For residents and digital nomads in Thailand, this development is significant as it signals a potential shift in how online marketplaces and digital services will be governed.
