OIC Launches Road Safety Campaign for Youth in High-Risk Areas

The Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) has initiated a new road safety campaign targeting students in five high-risk regions, starting in Saraburi.

The Office of Insurance Commission (OIC), in collaboration with the Road Accident Victims Protection Fund, has officially launched its 2026 road safety campaign titled 'New Generation Youth: Safe Driving and Awareness of Compulsory Insurance.' According to a report by Prachachat Business, the initiative focuses on five educational institutions located in areas identified as having a high risk of traffic accidents.

The campaign held its inaugural kick-off event in Saraburi province. The primary objective of this program is to educate young drivers on the importance of road safety protocols and to ensure they understand the necessity of maintaining mandatory vehicle insurance (Por Ror Bor). By targeting students in high-risk zones, the OIC aims to reduce accident rates and improve legal compliance among young motorists.

For residents and travelers, this initiative highlights ongoing efforts to address road safety concerns in specific Thai provinces. While the campaign is currently focused on five selected institutions, it underscores the broader emphasis on traffic safety and insurance awareness in Thailand. It remains to be confirmed whether the OIC plans to expand this campaign to additional provinces or educational institutions in the future. Travelers should remain cautious when driving in high-risk areas and ensure their own vehicle insurance documentation is current.
