Thailand Reports Significant Surge in Actual Investment for First Half of 2026
Thailand's Board of Investment (BOI) reports that actual investment reached 535.8 billion baht in the first half of 2026, marking a 27% increase.
According to a report from Khaosod Online Thailand, the Board of Investment (BOI) has released data tracking 'actual investment'—funds spent on construction, machinery, and operational setup—for the second quarter of 2026. The BOI recorded 255 billion baht in actual investments during this period, representing a 31% increase compared to the same quarter in the previous year.
When combined with the first quarter, the total actual investment for the first half of 2026 reached 535.8 billion baht, a 27% rise year-on-year. Narit Therdsteerasukdi, Secretary-General of the BOI, stated that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ekniti Nitithanprapas has prioritized the systematic tracking of these figures to ensure that promoted projects are actively entering the economy and contributing to national growth. The BOI is currently working to resolve operational obstacles to help these projects commence activities as planned.
For residents and travellers, this surge in capital expenditure suggests a robust pipeline of industrial and commercial development across the country, which is projected to support over 630,000 jobs for Thai citizens. While these figures indicate strong economic momentum, the long-term impact on specific sectors and the final completion status of all individual projects remain to be confirmed as the year progresses.
