Thailand's 2027 Budget Bill Nears Parliamentary Approval
The parliamentary committee reviewing Thailand's 2027 fiscal budget has completed over 96% of its work, with final readings expected in early September.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, Korrawee Prissananantakul, spokesperson for the House Committee on the 2027 Fiscal Budget Bill, announced on August 14, 2026, that the committee has finalized 96.46% of its review. The process has covered 22 ministries, 12 central budget items, 3,168 budget-receiving agencies, and 32 funds.
For residents and travelers, the timely passage of the national budget is significant as it dictates the funding for public infrastructure, government services, and state-led development projects throughout the country. Delays in budget approval can sometimes lead to temporary pauses in public sector spending or project implementation.
Korrawee confirmed that sub-committees are scheduled to report their findings to the main committee on August 19. The committee remains confident that the process is on schedule, with the bill expected to move to the second and third readings in the House of Representatives by early September 2026. While the committee is optimistic about this timeline, the final legislative approval remains subject to the upcoming parliamentary sessions.
