According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on August 14, 2026, the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA) is actively campaigning to have Pattaya recognized as a 'City of Film' within the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN).
This initiative is part of a broader strategy to integrate cultural assets—such as local arts, music, and craftsmanship—into sustainable tourism development. DASTA aims to ensure that these cultural resources remain vibrant and economically valuable for future generations. By pursuing this designation, the organization hopes to elevate Pattaya’s global profile and enhance its capacity for sustainable growth.
