Wildfires Break Out Across Khuan Kreng Peat Swamp
Three simultaneous wildfires have scorched 200 rai of land in Nakhon Si Thammarat, prompting emergency containment efforts to protect nearby palm plantations.
According to a report by Thai Post on August 14, 2026, a series of wildfires erupted simultaneously across three locations in the Khuan Kreng peat swamp area. The affected sites are situated in Moo 1, Moo 6, and Moo 9 of Khuan Kreng sub-district, Cha-uat district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province.
The fires, which have severely impacted the local cajeput forest, have already consumed approximately 200 rai of land. Local authorities and emergency response teams are currently working to contain the blaze to prevent it from spreading further into adjacent palm oil plantations.
