Four Arrested in Bangkok for Impersonating Police to Defraud Student
Thai authorities have apprehended four individuals accused of running a call center scam that defrauded a 22-year-old student of 12 million baht.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on August 13, 2026, police units from the Metropolitan Police Bureau and Bang Rak Station have arrested four suspects involved in a sophisticated call center scam. The group allegedly impersonated officers from the Ranong Provincial Police Station to deceive a 22-year-old student.
The suspects reportedly convinced the victim that they were involved in money laundering and illegal gambling activities. Under this pressure, the student transferred 12 million baht to the perpetrators. The arrested individuals include a 33-year-old Thai national, a 38-year-old Vietnamese national, and a 38-year-old Chinese national, who were apprehended in Bangkok, along with a fourth suspect identified as Ms. So Mo Thu.
