Police Investigate Trespassing Incident at Khon Kaen Temple
Authorities in Khon Kaen have issued a summons for a 62-year-old woman following the blockade of a local temple, as officials investigate potential land title fraud.
On August 13, 2026, Khon Kaen City Police Superintendent Pol. Col. Yotsawat Kaewsuebthannit provided an update regarding a trespassing case at Wat Pa Adulyaram. The investigation follows an incident on August 10, where a group of individuals blocked the entrance and exit of the temple located within the Khon Kaen Municipality.
Police have issued a summons for a 62-year-old woman, identified as Ms. Chommanee, or 'Pa Da,' to acknowledge trespassing charges. According to Pol. Col. Yotsawat, video evidence provided by citizens and witness testimonies confirm her presence during the blockade. While she reportedly did not enter the temple grounds, authorities stated that her actions interfered with the temple's right to possess the property. Police have identified five to six other individuals involved in the incident, as well as the origins of construction materials used to obstruct the path, and plan to summon them for questioning.
Separately, the Khon Kaen Provincial Land Office is reviewing a request for a replacement land title deed submitted by heirs. Officials noted that this request could potentially involve false reporting, pending the presentation of the original deed by the temple’s abbot. For residents and visitors, this situation highlights ongoing land disputes that can occasionally disrupt access to public or religious spaces. It remains to be confirmed how the land office will rule on the title request and what legal consequences the identified individuals will face.
